Plant Upgrade
The Scarborough Sanitary District entered into a contract with the Penta Corp. of Moultonboro,
New Hampshire in September of 2003. The project which was designed by Earth Tech calls for the
expansion and upgrade of the plant that was built in 1984. The expansion increases the allowable
flow from 1.8 million gallons per day to 2.5 million by adding aeration tanks and a new secondary
clarifier. Also, the administration building is being expanded and a new garage has been added. The
upgrade portion of the contract replaces all the pumps and dewatering equipment throughout the plant
with new pumps and new technology that is more efficient and should lower maintenance operation costs.
The project is complete.

Anyone wishing more details about the expansion and upgrade are encouraged to contact us.
